'We dodged a bullet'; Local experts say the location of Sunday's quake reduced risk

Lori Dengler suggests the nature of the fault rupture reduced the intesity of shaking in Eureka from this earthquake. I suggest It did nothing to reduce the risk of future big earthquakes.

The Science Christian Monitor writes: "California earthquake: 6.8 temblor erups from hot spot off northern coast." This "hot spot" is an area of frequent large earthquakes, NOT volcanic activity.
