Fan-O-Meter2

Fan-O-Meter2

NEAR realtime live feed

Like the original Fan-O-Meter, this version is trying to provide the public with a way to monitor the seismograms from CenturyLink Field.  Unfortunately, like the original, this one may also have problems under heavy load but should work better........ we hope.  Again, THIS IS AN EXPERIMENT!  If it fails before or during the game, the link will be taken down.  The original Hawk-O-Grams (now including the new station, HWK3) should work well as before.

We provide two versions of this display.  Each shows the seismograms from the four stations in or near the stadium. Note, HWK1 has moved from original spot but is still at field level; HWK2 and HWK3 are in the upper deck on opposite sides of the field and KDK is the original, permanent PNSN station operating outside the stadium for many years.

The display here is just a static image of the last 10 minutes of waveforms for each channel.  The image is updated every 10 seconds with new data appearing on the right and everything else sliding to the left so it looks like traces jerking along over time.  Time stamps at the bottom are for the oldest point on the left and the newest point on the right.  These times are given in Universal time (UTC) because seismologist all work on international time, not local time.  UTC (sometimes called GMT or Zulu is 8 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time)..  Note that some traces are missing a bit on the far right which means the image is updated before the latest data are fully ready for displaying.

Again, thanks to Ruben Luis for providing the code that produces this, Tom Parker for the seismic wave server where data are stored and the whole Earthworm Community for the seismic acquisition system.
